“Il Cannone” by Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesù, Cremona 1742

The most famous violin in the world. It was given to the young Paganini by General Pino and remained Paganini’s only concert instrument for the rest of his life.

Handmade and hand varnished violin.
One or Two piece back in selected highly figured maple with matching ribs and scroll; table in two pieces of selected spruce of narrow grain. Hand applied varnish with an antiqued aspect.

Rosewood pegs with Paris eye, matching tailpiece and chinrest.
Fitted French Despiau bridge and fitted high quality sound post.

'The Cessol' by Antonio Stradivari,Cremona 1716.

Made during Stradivari’s “Golden Period”, this violin is one of the Great Master’s finest instruments. Described by the Hills as “a superb example in every aspect, and quite of the character we should expect.”

Carlo Bergonzi’s instruments are extremely rare and rank just behind Stradivari and Guarneri in significance. Little is known of Bergonzi’s life but elements of both of the great masters can be identified in his work as well as evidence showing a connection with the Rugeri family.
