For sale we have an incredible 15¾ Viola by Ian, antiqued and in the style of the famous maker Andrea Guarneri the Conte Vitale viola of 1676.
Stunning flaming that is set off by the rich warm colour of the home made madder and oil amber varnish.
The Viola is set up with matching rosewood pegs, tail piece and chin rest. An Aubert deluxe bridge sets off the viola’s arching,
The sound
The viola is setup with a matched set of Larsen strings that gives the viola the finishing touch. The sound is warm, clear and resonant and has a wonderful deep base side which complements the treble being very responsive when bowed.
